About The Position

The City of Elk Grove is seeking a Parking Enforcement Technician to ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic by enforcing city parking laws and ordinances. This role involves independent work, excellent time management, and effective communication with the public. The technician will monitor parking violations, issue citations, and collaborate with various stakeholders to maintain community standards.

Requirements

• 2 years of customer service experience.
• Mid-level supervising experience.

Responsibilities

• Patrol city streets and parking lot facilities to identify and cite vehicles in violation of parking codes.
• Respond to parking complaints and inquiries regarding parking enforcement and traffic control activities.
• Investigate and enforce disabled parking placard provisions and other parking regulations.
• Immobilize vehicles when authorized and tow vehicles that violate parking laws.
• Report traffic accidents, abandoned vehicles, and traffic hazards to appropriate divisions.
• Maintain assigned equipment and supplies such as citation books and tire-marking chalk.
• Operate an on-board license plate recognition camera system and perform minor maintenance.
• Maintain records and secure confidential documents; complete forms and produce reports as necessary.
• Appear for administrative hearings or court trials; give testimony as necessary.
• Attend neighborhood association community and business meetings.
• Collaborate with other city departments to coordinate traffic and parking regulations.
• Provide information to the public regarding location of streets and parking facilities.
• Assist with special events and emergencies to ensure safety and traffic flow.
