About The Position

The Parking Enforcement Representative is responsible for enforcing parking regulations and ordinances in the City of Boca Raton. This part-time role involves monitoring parking areas, issuing citations for violations, and assisting the public with parking-related inquiries. The position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work in various weather conditions while ensuring public safety and compliance with local laws.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of general office, communications, or public contact work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess State of Florida parking enforcement specialist certification or obtain it within 90 days of appointment.
• Valid State of Florida Class 'E' driver's license with no more than six points in a three-year period.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the flow of vehicles in timed parking areas and no parking areas.
• Issue citations for parking violations such as overtime parking and illegal parking in designated zones.
• Observe and report on the licensing of parked vehicles, issuing citations for improperly licensed vehicles.
• Enforce safety regulations at construction sites to maintain safe walk areas for pedestrians.
• Report and monitor dangerous road and sidewalk conditions, including traffic signals and signs.
• Identify and record information on possible abandoned or stolen vehicles and report to authorities.
• Assist citizens with locked or stalled vehicles and provide traffic direction as needed.
• Operate a hand-held computerized system to check registrations and report stolen vehicles.
• Answer public inquiries regarding parking regulations and facilities.
• Perform light maintenance on parking meters, including cleaning and installing printer paper.
