About The Position

The Parking Enforcement position is limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year, at-will and non-benefited. The position varies in shifts and days off, including weekend and holiday work as assigned. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, performing a variety of duties involved in the enforcement of City parking ordinances, enforcing time-limit parking regulations on streets and City-operated facilities, interpreting and explaining parking rules and regulations, and participating in court appearances and hearings as needed.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a 40-hour P.O.S.T. PC832 Module A certification within six months of hire.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
  • Knowledge of proper English usage, basic arithmetic, public relations, safety precautions, report writing techniques, and modern office equipment.
  • Ability to write legibly, read a watch accurately, follow maps, communicate clearly, and enforce regulations with firmness and tact.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce City parking ordinances and time-limit parking regulations.
  • Interpret and explain parking rules and regulations to the public.
  • Participate in court appearances and hearings as required.
  • Perform related work as required.
