About The Position

The Liberty University Police Department (LUPD) Parking Enforcement Officer is a civilian position and serves as a critical part of the LUPD Auxiliary Services Division Team. The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for maintaining adequate operation of the Liberty University parking infrastructure. The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for towing and/or ticketing illegally parked vehicles, identifying improperly marked parking areas, coordinating with the LU Sign Shop to ensure proper identification of all parking areas, maintaining adequate counts of parking space inventory, deploying temporary signs to denote parking areas and coning off parking areas needing to be blocked off for special events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Reports to the Auxiliary Services & Training Sergeant. 2. Towing and/or ticketing illegally parked vehicles as well as enforcement of LU Decal policies. 3. Parking logistics management. 4. Closure and blocking off roadways and parking lots as needed. 5. Maintaining signs and identification of all parking areas. 6. Assistance with education of parkers on proper parking at LU. 7. Making recommendations for parking improvement. 8. Assisting in the development of the LU Parking Plan. 9. Researching and developing briefings on industry standards for efficient parking. 10. Comply with all Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act and Title IX requirements. 11. All other duties assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education, Experience and Qualifications 1. At least 21 years old. 2. Current first aid and CPR certifications. 3. Ability to work under considerable pressure and stress in difficult situations 4. Obtain VCIN certification. 5. A clear and solid record of performance. 6. Have no convictions for felonies or crimes of moral turpitude. 7. Have no recent or prolonged use of Marijuana. 8. Have no possession of any illegal drugs. 9. Be able to pass random drug testing to maintain employment. 10. Possess excellent written, verbal, organizational and problem-solving skills. 11. Maintain a calm demeanor when dealing with the public. 12. Possess strong skills in the use of computers, software and logistics. ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB Communication and Comprehension 1. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information. 2. Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. 3. Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of the Liberty University Police Department. 4. Possess strong organizational skills. 5. Possess a propensity for discipline, proficiency, conduct, appearance and strict attention to detail. Problem Solving 1. Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities 1. Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally. 2. Ability to walk and stand for extended period of times. 3. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or less.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years old.
