Parking Services at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is looking for a great colleague to join our team. The Parking Enforcement Officer plays a crucial role by patrolling University parking lots/ramps, enforcing parking regulations, and issuing citations. We utilize License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology equipped vehicles for patrolling our lots/ramps. Excellent customer service skills are required as this position interacts with a wide range of students, employees, and visitors. The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position serves as the primary parking enforcement officer for UWL Parking Services. The priority responsibilities are to patrol assigned parking areas, enforce compliance with UWL parking rules and regulations, and issue citations. The officer identifies maintenance issues and performs regular upkeep on parking equipment and parking lots/ramps. The officer also educates students, faculty, staff, and visitors on rules and regulations. The ability to communicate with a diverse population and use effective customer service skills is required. The primary work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Evenings, weekends, holidays, and coverage of special events may be required. Physical demands: Mental and physical demands are consistent with a moderate degree of decision-making stress when exercising authority or rendering services. Officer will be expected to patrol up to eight hours each day, which involves driving, walking and standing for long periods of time. Officer will be required to move barricades, signs or parking space bumper blocks and should be able to lift 50 pounds. Extra hours may be required for nights, weekends, or holidays due to special events, emergencies, or staff shortages. Working conditions and environment: The work demands expose the officer to all types of weather conditions including ice, sleet, rain, fog, snow, etc. Travel may be required for training or events.
