About The Position

The City of Arvada is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Parking Ambassador to support safe, accessible, and well-managed parking throughout the community. This role is responsible for monitoring and enforcing parking regulations across on-street zones, parking lots and garages, school zones, parks, bike lanes, and neighborhood permit areas. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently in the field, interacting with the public, and using technology to accurately document parking activity and violations. This position plays a key role in community relations, public education, and data collection that supports City parking operations and planning. This recruitment includes one full-time (1.0 FTE) position and two job-share part-time positions that together equal one full-time role. Each job-share position is limited to 20 hours per week . Additional hours may be required at times to meet operational needs and satisfy the full-time coverage requirement of the two part-time positions. Paid benefits and accruals for the job-share positions are provided at 50%. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. , and coverage will be shared among all positions.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of computerized management information systems, including data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to learn and apply City codes, ordinances, and regulations related to parking enforcement.
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and documentation clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with citizens, businesses, and groups of varying backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and demonstrate accountability.
  • Knowledge of Arvada geography, landmarks, and destinations.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly, both verbally and in writing, and to interact effectively and cooperatively with colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma
  • One (1) year of experience involving public contact, customer service, or field inspection/enforcement work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in parking enforcement, law enforcement support, or municipal operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols assigned areas by vehicle or on foot to monitor parking compliance and issue citations to violators.
  • Accurately documents violations using the Parking Technology System.
  • Utilizes parking technology to document, track, and issue citations to violators while educating the public on City parking regulations.
  • Monitors on-street timed parking sessions and other regulated zones according to assigned routes and schedules.
  • Issues parking citations, deploys vehicle disabling devices, and coordinates towing of vehicles in violation of ordinances, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Screens for parking placards and permits granting special privileges within Olde Town and other permit-restricted areas.
  • Responds to customer complaints and inquiries—both in person and over the phone—with professionalism and a focus on customer service.
  • Maintains daily logs of activities, including public contacts, warnings and citations issued, parking utilization data, vehicle condition, and supply inventory.
  • Collects and aggregates parking utilization data—particularly within the Olde Town area—to inform future City parking management decisions.
  • Promotes community relations through regular communication with local merchants, residents, and visitors.
  • Educates, interprets, explains, and enforces City parking ordinances and related policies.
  • Participates in parking studies, utilization surveys, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and supplies, including arranging for vehicle maintenance through Fleet Services.
  • Prepares computer-generated reports and related correspondence.
  • Responds to information requests and assists with the appeals process for parking violations.
  • Provides operational support using the City’s parking enforcement vehicle at scheduled intervals.
  • Supports special events and operations, including valet and holiday parking activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
