About The Position

The Park Ranger position is a part-time law enforcement role focused on ensuring the safe enjoyment of Hamilton County Park resources, programs, and activities. Rangers interact with the public, enforce state laws and park regulations, and perform various related duties under general supervision. This position requires a current Tennessee P.O.S.T. certification and involves responsibilities that include law enforcement and public safety within park areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Current and valid Tennessee P.O.S.T. Certification.
  • Eligibility for Commission by the Office of the Hamilton County Sheriff.
  • Ability to pass an NCIC background check, including fingerprinting.
  • Ability to pass a polygraph and psychological evaluation.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of twelve (12) months of direct work experience in law enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with the public to assist in the safe enjoyment of park resources.
  • Enforce the laws of the State of Tennessee and Hamilton County Park Rules and Regulations.
  • Protect the use of park lands and facilities.
  • Perform related work as required.
