About The Position

The Park Ranger (I) Spanish Language position at Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River focuses on delivering interpretive programs to park visitors, particularly those who speak Spanish. The role involves engaging with diverse groups, providing safety information, and conducting canoe patrols. This temporary position is expected to last for a maximum of 1039 hours, typically from April to September, with responsibilities that include both on-site and off-site educational activities.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) to communicate effectively with park visitors.
  • Ability to swim and self-rescue for canoe safety patrols.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service, or a combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in park management, recreation management, or law enforcement.
  • Background in natural resource management or education.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and presents interpretive programs to park visitors and youth groups both on-site and off-site.
  • Staffs the Zane Grey Museum and provides informal interpretation on the western author and the park.
  • Operates the Eastern National sales outlet.
  • Provides river safety talks and area and park information to park visitors.
  • Performs roving interpretation by vehicle and foot at public river accesses and area trails.
  • Conducts canoe patrols on the Upper Delaware River, presenting water safety information and performing rescues.
