About The Position

The Park Ranger position at Caladesi Island State Park involves providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. The role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and perform various skilled trade functions. The ranger will engage with visitors, manage park resources, maintain facilities, and ensure compliance with park regulations while working rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of Florida's natural and cultural resources.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Skill in operating a cash register and reconciling receipts.
• Experience in performing grounds and building maintenance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with power tools and basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
• Public speaking skills for interpretive programs.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide visitor services by explaining facilities and services, answering questions, and resolving complaints.
• Participate in resource management tasks, including prescribed fire execution and wildlife management.
• Maintain park structures, facilities, and grounds through routine inspections and maintenance practices.
• Prepare reports and forms related to park operations, including visitation and vehicle usage.
• Conduct routine patrols and security checks to ensure adherence to park rules and regulations.
