About The Position

Clyde Holliday State Recreation Site is an oasis along the sparkling John Day River and a base camp for exploring the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness and the region's many historical sites. Your New Role: As a permanent full-time Park Ranger 2, you will independently plan and carry out personally, or by conducting others, complex park maintenance, operation, facility and resource conservation and/or interpretation tasks to protect, maintain, operate, repair and improve state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems.

Requirements

  • Four years of visitor services experience or maintenance experience.
  • An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or related field and 2.5 years of experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or related field and 1 year of experience.
  • Must complete a criminal record and driving record check.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading complex park construction and improvement projects.
  • Experience performing park maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and groundskeeping.
  • Ability to work independently while educating the public about park rules.
  • Experience registering guests in a campground setting and reconciling payments.
  • Experience leading parks specific work teams and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and carry out complex park maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct facility and resource conservation and interpretation tasks.
  • Protect, maintain, operate, repair, and improve state park lands.
  • Manage natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment, and systems.
