Requirements

• Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.
• Must be willing and able to carry firearms.
• Must have attained the eighteenth birthday at the time of application.
• No physical disabilities that would prevent functioning as a law enforcement officer.
• No felony convictions or current felony indictments.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in law enforcement or park services is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Enforce federal, state, and local laws and park rules and regulations to protect park visitors.
• Perform emergency duties to safeguard human life, government property, and natural features.
• Investigate incidents and complaints such as vandalism, accidents, and trespassing within park boundaries.
• Testify in court as required and collaborate with law enforcement agencies for arrests and prosecutions.
• Patrol and inspect the park by vehicle, foot, bicycle, and boat to ensure security.
• Assist overnight guests with customer service duties and provide tourism information.
• Maintain records and reports related to park operations and law enforcement duties.
• Participate in required training, including POST Council Certification and First-Aid/CPR.
• Assist in the development and training of Ranger 1's for advancement to Ranger 2.
• Work special events and details in conjunction with various agencies.
