  • Investigate incidents and complaints such as vehicular accidents, vandalism, and trespassing within park boundaries.
  • Testify in court as required and collaborate with law enforcement agencies in arrests and prosecutions.
  • Patrol and inspect the park by vehicle, foot, bicycle, and boat to provide security.
  • Educate visitors on respecting the natural balance of state parks and regulate visitor numbers.
  • Assist overnight guests with customer service duties and provide tourism information.
  • Perform maintenance, custodial, inspections, and fee collection tasks as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports associated with park operations and law enforcement duties.
  • Participate in required training and assist in the development of Ranger 1's.
  • Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of application.
  • Willingness and ability to carry firearms.
  • Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.
  • No physical disabilities that would prevent functioning as a law enforcement officer.
  • POST Certification in Louisiana (may qualify for testing exemption).
