About The Position

The Park Police Officer Trainee position in the Finger Lakes Region is a full-time role within the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation. Trainees will undergo a six-month residential training at the police academy, followed by six months of field training in various park zones across New York State. Requirements

• Must be at least 20 years of age at the time of hire and cannot have passed the 35th birthday by October 25, 2025.
• Minimum of 60 college credit hours completed by June 30, 2025; 30 hours may be waived for honorably discharged veterans with at least two years of active military duty.
• Must be a United States citizen and a resident of New York State at the time of appointment and maintain residency throughout employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Complete a six-month residential training program at the police academy.
