BASIC FUNCTION The Park Monitor is responsible for visually checking facility and park grounds on a scheduled rotational basis to insure that all parks and facilities are in order, safety rules are being adhered to, and Park Ordinances are being followed by patrons using Skokie Park District parks and facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Patrols park sites and visually inspects the park areas to insure that District rules and ordinances are being followed by patrons. Informs supervisor of any problems observed that require further action. Contacts the proper authorities (Skokie Police) if any immediate dangers are observed in the parks. Opens and closes the restroom areas, courts, gates and other secure park areas and facilities. Maintains a daily log of site visits noting the time of the visit, the condition of the park, estimated number of patrons observed, and activities taking place in the park. Makes note of any safety concerns on the log. Completes vandalism and incident reports. Handles public inquiries.8.Assists with light cleaning and maintaining shelter areas for rentals. Performs graffiti removal and general park maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned. OTHER DUTIES Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to and actively enforces the safety responsibilities and safety procedures as outlined in the District's Safety Manual and overall risk management program. This job falls in paygrade PT5. The target hiring range for this position is $18.5 depending on qualifications. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D Experience: One year related experience preferred Certifications: Must possess a valid Illinois Drivers' License Other qualifications: Must possess strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational and communication skills. Must be an adult, at least 21 years of age.
