About The Position

The Park Maintenance Worker II - In Charge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of park maintenance, including personnel management, turf and grounds maintenance, and facility upkeep. This role ensures that park facilities are maintained to high standards for public use and recreational activities, while also supervising seasonal staff and managing various maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• Current resident of Wisconsin.
• Valid WI Driver's License.
• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 50 lbs.
• High School Diploma.
• At least one year of experience in Grounds, Landscape, or Park Maintenance.
• Associate degree preferred in Park & Rec, Horticulture, Agronomy, or Turf Management.
• Preferred supervisory experience of less than one year in a Parks/Maintenance-related area.
• Cat. 3.0 pesticide certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• CDL B must be obtained within 6 months of hire; Class 'A' preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with aquatic facility maintenance.
• Knowledge of turf management practices.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and recommend hiring of seasonal park operations staff.
• Provide daily supervision including job assignments and performance appraisals.
• Maintain park green spaces through mowing, trimming, fertilization, and irrigation.
• Set up and maintain athletic fields and sport courts for competitive play.
• Maintain buildings and facilities including cleaning and repairs.
• Maintain park roadways, drives, parking lots, and pathways.
• Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools related to job duties.
• Process purchase requests and maintain inventory supplies.
• Operate and maintain aquatic facilities such as splash pads and wading pools.
• Participate in special project teams and community outreach efforts.
