Summary of Duties: Under close supervision, the Parks Maintenance Worker I is responsible for providing assistance with routine maintenance, repair, and construction of facilities and landscaping for assigned area. Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the entry-level classification in the Park Maintenance Worker series. The incumbent follows routine procedures and guidelines in the application of prescribed duties and works under close supervision. This classification is distinguished from the Park Maintenance Worker II in that the latter performs more complex technical duties requiring a higher level of knowledge and skill. Examples of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Management reserves the rights to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job. Mows and maintains turf and landscaping; prunes and trims trees and shrubs; removes weeds from beds; removes litter, brush and debris from assigned areas. Inspects, cleans and maintains tools and equipment. May operate power equipment including one-ton trucks and trailers, push mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers and blowers. Riding mower experience preferred. Assists with various projects including sod and seed installation and establishment, tree planting and minor landscape renovations.
