About The Position

The Park Guide position at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument involves providing informational, interpretive, and general services to park visitors in both English and Spanish. The role includes presenting interpretive talks and walks, assisting with daily operations, and mentoring seasonal employees and volunteers. This is a temporary promotion not to exceed one year, with the possibility of extension up to five years.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.
• Experience performing law enforcement duties for the protection and management of natural and/or cultural resources.
• Ability to operate a government motor vehicle as part of official duties.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience in customer service or public speaking.
• Knowledge of park resources and interpretive techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide informational, interpretive, and general services to park visitors in English and Spanish.
• Present interpretive talks and walks, interpreting cultural, natural, and historic concepts and features.
• Assist the on-site supervisor with daily operations by ensuring proper execution of front desk operations.
• Train, mentor, and coach seasonal employees, interns, and volunteers.
• Track and report visitor use statistics using hand counters and electronic door and road counters.
• Collect federal fees adhering to law and policy.
