Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required with 5-8 years’ experience as a project engineer or project manager in the design or construction management of a variety of municipal or related infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets Great Parks’ current carrier guidelines
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates annual structural inspections performed by the State on the public safety and structural condition of bridges.
  • Participates in 5-year inspections performed by the State for qualifying dams.
  • Inspects buildings, roads, trails, bridges, walls, and utilities and evaluates cost-effective methods for their maintenance, rehabilitation, or replacement.
  • Assists in the coordination, review, and approval of agreements, permits, and construction activities undertaken by state, county, municipal, or private enterprises that impact park district property and interests.
  • Provides technical advice or direction relating to engineering/planning issues, such as stream restoration, green infrastructure, and roadway design. Carries out special assignments and tasks delegated by the Chief of Planning and Director of Corridor + Trail Development.
  • Interprets land survey data and topographic information.
  • Interprets information for use in GIS database to manage the Park infrastructure assets.
  • Maintains responsibility for administration of development/improvement budgets.
  • Prepares purchase order requisitions, reviews, and approves invoices from material and equipment vendors, engineering consultants and contractors.
  • Exhibits regular and punctual attendance
