About The Position

HYC is one of the largest youth services providers in Southeast Los Angeles County. Since 1971, HYC has eliminated barriers to self-sufficiency by empowering Southeast Los Angeles and Long Beach youth and families. The mission of Helpline Youth Counseling (HYC) is to help build individual, family, and community health, well-being, prosperity, and equity. HYC serves clients and community members with trauma-informed, strength-based, person-centered prevention, early intervention, education, and treatment services. HYC has an immediate opening for a full time Parent Partner who will provide Wraparound support services to parents and families. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Wraparound is family-centered, strength based, needs-driven, planning and servicing high-risk youth and their families. The Parent Partner will be part of a team called the Child and Family Team and the role of a Parent Partner will be to help navigate parents/caregivers especially with linkages to resources. Maintain an active Wraparound caseload. Attends staff meetings, CFT meetings, in-service training and conferences as required and scheduled. Maintain good communication with program manager and supervisor Meets all productivity requirements and completes all necessary DMH documentation required of the position Ensures the safety of clients by providing direct crisis intervention and therapeutic guidance and participates in the 24-hour/day, 7-day/week on-call crisis response system. Assist the Facilitator on the team by providing direct services weekly to the client and family as identified in the Plan of Care. Work directly with assigned parents in their respective environment, including in-home/out-of-home placements and their respective communities as identified in the Plan of Care. Will be required to participate in required trainings. Must have excellent organizational skills and must complete all required reports and documentation within the 72 hr company policy Will be responsible for transporting clients when required. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times Be able to work in a team-oriented fun work environment

Requirements

  • Previous personal experience with DMH, DCFS, Probation, Regional Center or similar services, and successfully transitioned to self-sufficiency.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • The Parent Partner must have at least one (1) year experience working with parents of high-risk youth.
  • Experience includes being the parent/guardian, adoptive parent, grandparent, and/or caregiver (i.e. certified foster parent) of a child who has/had special needs and was involved with the Department of Mental Health, Probation, and/or Children and Family Services.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license, current automobile insurance; clean driving record.
  • Must pass a TB test, and a criminal background check.
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
