About The Position
Sycamores provides a spectrum of equitable mental health services through various programs to multicultural populations of all acuities. Although it serves a variety of consumers, the agency focuses primarily on providing care to low-income, high at-risk youth. The purpose of this position is to provide active, hands-on peer support to parents of youth/young adults receiving services at Sycamores. Effective peer support should be friendly, helpful, accessible and flexible. Peer support may be delivered to individuals or group settings at the agency, in family homes or in community environments. The role of the Parent Partner is to work collaboratively to increase family voice, choice, access and empowerment, while decreasing unintentional, programmatic, and institutional bias about parents.
