About The Position

Olathe Parents as Teachers is seeking a highly qualified individual to provide services to families with children prenatal to age 5 residing in the Olathe School District. This position will implement the Parents as Teachers curriculum and provide education to families in the form of personal visits, group meetings, screenings, and connections to a network of resources for parents and children. This position is reports to the Olathe Parents as Teachers Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, social work, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and car insurance.
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills (bi-lingual Spanish preferred)
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport with families
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well within a team structure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability in compiling and organizing data
  • Highly collaborative team player
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Completion of training in the Parents as Teachers Curriculum from the Parents as Teachers National Center, as well as all other required trainings necessary to provide services to families and children.
  • Follow Parents as Teachers National Center and KSDE requirements and guidelines.
  • Provide parent education through regular personal home visits implementing the Parents as Teachers Curriculum. Home visits may occur on weekdays, evenings, and/or Saturdays.
  • Maintain and submit in a timely manner all required family and program documentation.
  • Collaborate with other parent educators to plan and facilitate Group Connections and other group activities for families.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and staff meetings.
  • Engage in recruitment activities and represent PAT in community outreach activities.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of Parents as Teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
