About The Position

The Parent Educator will work fewer than 18 hours per week and will facilitate curriculum-based groups, deliver presentations, attend community events and activities to market programs and recruit participants, as directed by grant, for families in community settings. The Parent Educator will also conduct intake and assessment, develop treatment plans, and provide supportive case management to all group participants. As needed, the Parent Educator may lead additional curriculum groups. This position will work closely with the surrounding community to provide advocacy and referral services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in social work or related human services field.
  • Must have completed the curricula training or be able to attain such certification within the first year of employment. Employment is contingent on acquisition of minimal certification/licensure.
  • Knowledge of Social Work practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and confidential work environment.
  • Understand and model cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.
  • Must have a reliable personal transportation, valid Texas driver license, and current auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish. English required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing community outreach to recruit participants into the program.
  • Complete intake, program screeners, and/or assessments to determine other recommendations or support services for the client.
  • Utilizing client and family input, provide ongoing case management services for fathers enrolled in the program.
  • Develop a plan of service that selects and outlines an array of services and interventions from within DePelchin and the community that will address the needs formulated in the assessment process.
  • Assist clients with referrals to other community services identified in the plan of service and provide advocacy for individual clients and their families to receive entitlements or needed services.
  • Maintain current records, meeting all recording requirements of the agency.
  • Maintain monthly statistics and data needed for program accountability and billing for client services as applicable.
  • Provide curriculum-based groups to families in the community, as needed.
