PARENT EDUCATOR R3 Program

The Parent Educator for the R3 Program at SGA Youth & Family Services is a vital role focused on supporting families through developmentally appropriate home-based activities. This position requires a bilingual individual fluent in Spanish, who will serve as an advocate for families and act as a liaison between them, the program, and the larger community. The Parent Educator will be responsible for planning and implementing activities tailored to the needs of assigned families, ensuring that each child receives the necessary support and resources for their development. In this role, the Parent Educator will recruit and maintain a caseload of up to 13 children and pregnant mothers, conducting weekly or biweekly visits to provide guidance and support. They will work closely with parents to gather necessary documentation for program requirements and maintain a 100% enrollment rate throughout the program year. The Parent Educator will also complete required forms and screenings, develop individualized family plans, and facilitate monthly activities for parents and children to encourage engagement and literacy. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Parent Educator will work with other staff members to recruit eligible families and establish partnerships with agencies that provide services to pregnant women and children. They will also participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in areas relevant to the role. The Parent Educator must be able to communicate effectively with diverse families and professionals, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural diversity and the ability to handle emergency situations with discretion and independent judgment.
