About The Position

The Parent/Community Liaison at Palmdale School District plays a crucial role in fostering communication and collaboration between the school and the families of students. This position is responsible for implementing and administering special programs aimed at increasing parental involvement in educational activities, facilitating positive relationships among parents, schools, and the community, and supporting non-English speaking parents and students. The liaison will also compile data, prepare reports, and assist in various tasks related to the assigned programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Experience working with parents and community organizations is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are preferred.
• Experience in educational settings or community outreach programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing and maintaining direct communication channels between the school/program and student's family.
• Assist in recruiting parents as volunteers within the school to increase parent participation in school/program activities.
• Collaborate with school staff to develop programs and classes to support non-English speaking parents and students.
• Coordinate parental participation, organize meetings and educational classes for program participants, and encourage leadership.
• Aid in explaining district, school, and program goals and objectives to the community.
• Travel to community locations for parent events and contact parents by phone or visit participants' homes as needed.
• Compile, prepare, and maintain files, records, and reports related to assigned programs and participants.
• Assist school/program staff when needed.
• Translate and interpret for workshops, conferences, and other events.
• Attend workshops, conferences, seminars, and community meetings/events as required.
