About The Position

The Parent Center Mental Health Counselor will work within the Health & Wellness Division at Henry Street Settlement, specifically at the Dale Jones Burch Neighborhood Center. This role involves conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial intakes, enrolling parents in various parenting education and support groups, and providing short-term parent coaching and psychotherapy. The Parent Center offers a range of programs, including workshops and group sessions, aimed at supporting parents and families in the community. The position requires collaboration with other staff and community organizations to address the needs of parents and children from pregnancy through early adulthood.

Requirements

  • LMSW, LCSW, MHC-LP or LMHC preferred.
  • MSW and BSW-level social workers will be considered.
  • 1-2+ years of experience providing parenting education/support services.
  • Strong assessment skills and knowledge of child development issues.
  • Familiarity with Family Court and ACS/child welfare system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Computer proficiency including database management and Microsoft Office Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual language skills preferred (Spanish or Chinese).

Responsibilities

  • Respond to PC Central Intake Calls and referrals.
  • Conduct bio-psychosocial comprehensive intake assessments and enroll parents in groups/workshops.
  • Provide one-time parent consultations and/or parent coaching/brief psychotherapy/parent-child or parent-infant dyadic interventions.
  • Facilitate and/or Co-Facilitate a range of parenting groups and workshops on various topics.
  • Work collaboratively with program directors, staff, case managers, and community health workers.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Participate in individual/group supervision/team meetings.
  • Timely documentation of confidential records and data entry/database maintenance.
  • Assist with preparation of flyers for special events and data collection for grant funding reports.
  • Help organize and recruit program participants for quarterly special events.
  • Advocate for parental/family needs as appropriate.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $60,000 - $63,000 USD per year.
