About The Position

Parent Ambassador (Non-Certified Staff) Temporary, part time. This is a 100% grant funded position. Position Title: Parent Ambassador Reports To: Early Start Liaison who is the Director of Teaching, Learning & Early Childhood Position Overview: The Parent Ambassador is a trusted community member who helps connect families with local early childhood programs and services. As a parent leader, the Parent Ambassador will build relationships with families, share important information, and ensure parent voices are reflected in the design and implementation of the Local Governance Partner (LGP) work.

Requirements

  • A Parent/Caregiver with lived experience in Winchester
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift up to 12 pounds
  • Must be available for some evenings and weekends (with advanced notice)
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus

Nice To Haves

  • Able to work independently and respectfully with all families, connecting them to community resources, specific to Winchester and the surrounding towns
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfort engaging with the public, sharing program information, and referring families to local services.
  • Familiarity with early childhood services is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Reach out to families in Winsted to raise awareness about early childhood programs, services and other local resources.
  • Share accurate, timely, and culturally respectful information with parents and caregivers.
  • Lift up parent voices by listening to families' experiences with early childhood programs in Winsted and share their feedback with the LGP.
  • Help families find and use child care, health, education, and other resources available in the community.
  • Attend and help with family events, focus groups, and meetings hosted by the LGP or community partners.
  • Collaborate with the LGP team and local organizations to support family-centered strategies and equitable access to services.
  • Serve as a liaison between the district, school administrators, and the state TEAM office.
  • Provide monthly information to the LGP on outreach efforts, family needs and success stories.
