About The Position

The purpose of this job is to transport passengers in a passenger van on a demand-response system and provide customer service. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class E Chauffeur license.
• Knowledge of streets and locations within Columbia, MO
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to motor vehicles, Federal Transportation Administration (FTA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), public works, and transit policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of defensive driving and accident prevention,
• Skill in operating fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
• Skill in applying active listening and asking questions for understanding.
• Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to assist with boarding/deboarding of passengers.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
• Ability to provide high levels of effective customer service.
• Ability to count money and make change.
• Ability to prepare and write basic reports.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Operates and transports passengers in vans in varying weather conditions.
• Provides customer service and passenger assistance, including operation of wheelchair lift and securement devices.
• Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
