About The Position

The Parasitology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, processing and preparing of fecal samples. This position is part of Antech, a leader in veterinary diagnostics, and is focused on driving the future of pet health. The role is temporary, lasting 6 months, and is based out of the laboratory in Fountain Valley, CA. The work shift is from 2:30am to 11:00am, with Monday and Wednesday off. The target pay for this position is $19.28 an hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up.
• Meet all minimum department requirements for para loads and Fcombo set-up rates.
• Accurately build loads and label processing tubes.
• Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required.
• Find missing specimens.
• Print and reconcile queue list.
• Maintain organization of storage refrigerator.
• Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc.
• Awareness of quality control and calibration.
• Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.
• Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Restock supplies as needed.
• Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
