Paraprofessional

The Paraprofessional position at Bridgeport ISD is designed to provide essential instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. The role involves actively participating in the preparation, conduct, and management of classroom activities, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed academically. The Paraprofessional will work closely with individual students or small groups, assisting in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics, and helping to create a positive learning environment. In addition to instructional support, the Paraprofessional will assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, as well as administering and scoring objective testing instruments or work assignments. Maintaining a neat and orderly classroom is a key responsibility, along with the care and maintenance of classroom equipment. The Paraprofessional will also help keep administrative records and prepare required reports, providing orientation and assistance to substitute teachers when necessary. The role includes significant student management responsibilities, such as supervising students throughout the school day, including during lunch, on the bus, and on the playground. The Paraprofessional will be expected to communicate any special needs or problems of individual students to the teacher, ensuring that all students receive the attention and support they require. Participation in staff development training programs is essential for improving job performance, and the Paraprofessional will also be expected to attend faculty meetings and special events as assigned. Adhering to district safety protocols and emergency procedures is a critical aspect of this position, ensuring a safe environment for both students and staff.
