About The Position

Calvary Christian Academy (CCA), a ministry of Calvary Christian Center, is committed to pursuing academic excellence with eternity in mind. Our mission is to equip students both academically and spiritually, raising up Christ-centered leaders who are prepared to fulfill God's purpose for their lives. The Paraprofessional serves as an academic and spiritual support within the classroom, working alongside teachers to address the individual educational, emotional, and spiritual needs of students. This role is primarily student-facing — the majority of time is to be spent directly supporting students academically, emotionally, and spiritually, with clerical duties serving as a secondary responsibility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Computer proficiency and strong social and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including phone etiquette.
  • Ability to de-escalate upset stakeholders with professionalism and care.
  • Knowledge of standard office machine functions.
  • Demonstrates integrity, confidentiality, and active listening in all aspects of work.
  • Must be an active member of a Bible-believing church
  • Must successfully complete a Level 2 background check & drug screening
  • Must demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Must maintain a lifestyle consistent with Biblical standards as outlined by the school and church
  • Ability to obtain and maintain current CPR certification
  • Ability to abstain from the use of alcohol, non-prescribed controlled substances, or tobacco throughout employment with the school

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instructional support to students individually and in small groups, following lesson plans and directions provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Work cooperatively with teachers and school staff to observe, gather data on, and support individual student performance and progress.
  • Assist in constructing and implementing instructional materials, home learning activities, and parental support resources as directed by the teacher.
  • Maintain a proactive presence in the classroom — when a task has not been assigned, independently engage with students or student groups to provide academic support rather than remaining idle.
  • Assist with administering and participating in student performance assessment frameworks, including MAP assessments.
  • Maintain the proper use, care, and safe custody of classroom materials and equipment, ensuring regular service and maintenance as needed.
  • Oversee students in the Aftercare Program daily.
  • Attend specials with the class unless a conflicting assigned duty or lunch period applies.
  • Provide Christ-centered guidance and advice to students on educational, social, and spiritual matters, and refer students to appropriate resources or personnel when more specialized support is needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all student and staff information at all times.
  • Refer parent concerns or questions to the classroom teacher or administrator — do not independently address unknown parent inquiries.
  • Maintain good order, discipline, and student safety at all times while under your care.
  • Participate in all staff professional development days, in-service training, and the annual FLOCS training conference.
  • Actively participate in school spiritual life, including chapels and assemblies.
  • Participate in required school and ministry events, including but not limited to Orientation, Open House, Parent-Teacher Conferences, CCA commencement exercises, at least one CCC event as determined by administration, and the CCC Easter Event.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
