About The Position

The Para Professional’s primary responsibility is to perform all responsibilities in a manner that is reflective of the mission and philosophy of Third Way Center. The Para Professional shall be sensitive to the Cultural differences among the children, their families and the Third Way Center Staff, and respond appropriately to these differences. The Para Professional is required to aide teachers and school staff at the Third Way Center Alternative school and will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Full time benefits available after 30 days of employment. Includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 403b, Flex, Accident, Critical Care, Life Insurance, Short Term Disability.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain QMAP, CPR First Aid, Valid drivers license and Substitute license though CDE.

It is essential we understand cultural diversity within the milieu, and are willing to learn new skills and attend in-services as needed. Responsibilities

  • Assist in classroom management/milieu management/crisis management
  • Assist in classroom educational support for students
  • Assist with therapeutic needs of students
  • One-on-One or small group tutoring with students when referred from teacher to paraprofessional
  • Plan and implement lessons with help of teaching staff when necessary
  • Substitute teaching when necessary
  • Daily updates in the morning and communication with the houses in the afternoons via written notes
  • Obtain packed medication from the house staff and administer medication to students for scheduled medications or PRN - current QMAP certification required
  • Communicate with school staff and house staff regarding medication issues/requests
  • Attend weekly team school meetings with the Director of Special Ed and Educational Coordinator and/or Asst. Clinical Director/Clinical Director/Treatment Leaders
  • Purchase supplies needed for school/classrooms
  • Attend school wide district trainings once a year
  • Attend teacher planning days 3-4 times per year
  • Assist with cleaning/organization of school environment
  • Assist with stocking and organization of school/office supplies
  • Complete Critical Incident Reports, Orientation for new students, and other reports/paperwork as needed
  • Support/attend off-campus activities when needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Educational Coordinator
