About The Position

Ashford School is seeking a caring and dedicated Paraprofessional to support a preschool student who is learning to communicate using an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device.

Requirements

• Experience working with young children preferred.
• Familiarity with AAC devices or willingness to learn required.
• Patience, flexibility, and a genuine interest in supporting communication development.
• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or paraeducator certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to a preschool student within the classroom setting.
• Facilitate communication using the student's AAC device and model appropriate use throughout the day.
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and special education staff to implement communication and learning strategies.
• Support the student's participation in classroom activities, routines, and social interactions.
• Assist with daily routines and other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or special education team.
