About The Position

A high school paraprofessional works under the supervision of a licensed teacher to support students with IEPs. Their duties include providing one-on-one help with lessons, reinforcing concepts, supervising students during non-instructional times, and implementing behavioral and academic support plans. They help create a positive learning environment and ensure students receive the individualized support they need to succeed.

Requirements

Must possess the minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Basic technology skills
Must pass pre-employment criminal history check

Responsibilities

Work with groups of students inside and/or outside the classroom in either small groups or one-on-one instruction
Monitor appropriate student behavior
Assist the teacher in providing supervision to students in various locations throughout the school day.
Assist the teacher with classroom management and academic support
Communicate effectively with students, parents and other staff members
Help the teacher maintain a neat and orderly classroom
Help ensure the health, welfare and safety of students
Assist with behavior issues and behavior plans
Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students
Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as assigned
Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others
