About The Position

FUNCTION : To assist the bus driver in the transportation, loading, and unloading of students, and supervision of students on the bus. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (Other duties may be assigned) Assist the bus driver in the supervision of students. Maintain recordkeeping or data as needed. Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading of students. Assisting students with specialized medical needs. Communicates in an appropriate fashion with students, parents and employees. SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES : Supervises students while transporting them. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • AA degree, two years of full-time college or a passing grade on the paraprofessional exam
  • High School Diploma/equivalent
  • Experience working with children
  • Clerical skills (Typing, filing, computer knowledge preferred)
  • The employee is expected to be dressed and groomed in a neat, clean and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information on one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work with severely handicapped.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.
  • Employment for this position is contingent on clearance of Background Investigation
