About the position

The Paraprofessional position is designed to assist in implementing the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher. The role involves conducting developmentally appropriate activities for children in a safe environment, maintaining a clean and orderly physical environment, and conducting assessments on children's growth and development. The Paraprofessional will attend and actively contribute to staff planning and evaluation meetings and professional meetings, appropriately share information with other staff members, and assist the Lead Teacher in any appropriate way. Confidentiality of children, parents, and fellow staff members must be maintained, and compliance with the policies and procedures set forth in the staff handbook is required. The position also includes coordinating other projects as directed by the Lead Teacher, Directors, and Executive Director, and adhering to physical demands requiring frequent lifting and carrying of objects of considerable weight. The Paraprofessional will perform duties related to and in support of the educational process and care and safety of learners, assisting individual, small groups, or whole groups of learners with educational activities as directed by the teacher or higher-level personnel.

  • Assists lead teacher in lesson planning and compiling data and materials
  • Reports any abuses of policy or negative situations through the appropriate chain of command
  • Reports to work at the assigned time and attends work consistently
  • Completes tasks in a safe manner as prescribed by the NSU Safety Department
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work environment
  • Dresses appropriately for the job assigned and follows uniform code
  • Reports any observed unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to administration

Requirements

  • High School diploma

Nice-to-haves

  • CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood
  • 2 years of preferred experience
  • CDA preferred license
