About the position

ThinkGrove is seeking dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessionals to join their Special Education team. The role involves providing instructional support and personal care to students with special needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment that promotes their academic and social development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Special Education Teacher in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students.
  • Support students in general education classrooms as needed.
  • Help modify and adapt instructional materials and activities to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Monitor and manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and IEPs.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and support to promote desired behaviors.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Ensure students' physical safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist with mobility needs, including transferring students to and from wheelchairs.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials and resources.
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, and other non-instructional times.
  • Work closely with Special Education Teachers, general education teachers, and other support staff.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain patient, compassionate, and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • Basic knowledge of educational practices and instructional techniques.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and assist students as needed.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
