About The Position

The Paraprofessional Teacher at Gator Academy is a non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Gator Academy. This role is essential in providing support to the educational environment and ensuring the well-being of children in the care of the academy. The position requires a commitment to maintaining a safe and nurturing atmosphere for children, adhering to childcare standards, and fostering positive relationships with both children and their families.

Requirements

• Certified through TX Department of Childcare Licensing.
• Achieved or in the process of completing requirements for a CDA.
• Current with the required 25 clock hours of training per year as required by CC Licensing.
• Current with CPR/First Aid certification for infants/children/adults.
• Clearance of Tuberculosis.
• Clearance of Criminal History check (annually).
• Clearance of fingerprinting check.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children.
• Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience.
• Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures.
• Recognize suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation and adhere to the laws of reporting this crime.
• Ensure children are not abused, neglected, or exploited.
• Know and comply with the minimum standards for childcare centers.
• Know which children they are responsible for and their names, ages, and known allergies.
• Supervise children at all times.
• Interact with children in a positive manner fostering their sense of self-esteem and individuality.
• Foster developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned activities.
• Foster a cooperative atmosphere among children.
• Show appreciation for children's efforts and accomplishments.
• Ensure continuity of care by sharing information about each child's activities with incoming caregivers.
• Complete required daily communication forms and communicate with parents.
