About The Position

The Paraprofessional Specialist position at Great Beginnings - Paradise Park is designed to provide essential support to the instructional program within the classroom, particularly for at-risk students. Requirements

  • Must have 60 college credit hours or pass the Paraprofessional test in the State of MO or complete the Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and knowledge of age-appropriate activities.
  • Ability to perform basic math and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Skills in adhering to safety practices and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Adapts classroom activities and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support classroom objectives.
  • Communicates with teachers and health care professionals to assist in evaluating student progress and implementing IEP objectives.
  • Documents students' daily activities for completing daily logs and hourly activities.
  • Implements instruction in Life Skills under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders.
  • Maintains manual and electronic files and records for reference and compliance.
  • Models appropriate social behavior and interactions for students.
  • Monitors students' daily schedules and behavior plans to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Provides instruction in various subjects under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Remains with students at all times to ensure their safety and manage behavior.
  • Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
