About The Position

The Palm Springs Unified School District is seeking a Paraprofessional Special Education Health to assist assigned personnel in the supervision and instruction of Special Education and other identified students. This role involves performing clerical, medical, and health-related procedures in support of the instructional process. The position is available for various 5 to 7 hour vacancies throughout the District across all grade levels, and there is an establishment of an eligibility pool which may be utilized for up to 3 months for future vacancies.

Requirements

• High school graduation (HS diploma, HS transcripts, or GED)
• Completion of Target Success Sketch questionnaire
• Ability to apply medical methods and procedures within defined guidelines
• Certification in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire
• Ability to perform specialized health interventions for medically fragile students
• Ability to monitor and report on student health issues
• Ability to assist in the movement and positioning of students with disabilities
• Ability to maintain accurate records

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision and instruction of Special Education students
• Perform clerical, medical, and health-related procedures
• Apply medical methods and procedures within clearly defined guidelines
• Provide first aid and CPR procedures
• Perform specialized health interventions such as oral suctioning, cauterization, gastronomy, tube feeding, and other procedures for medically fragile students
• Monitor, observe, and report student health issues and progress according to approved policies and procedures
• Assist in positioning, moving, and transferring students with multiple disabilities
• Ensure tasks are performed in accordance with Individual Education Plan requirements
• Adhere to safety practices
• Operate standard office equipment
• Prepare and maintain accurate records
