About The Position

This position supports teachers in addressing student behavior, instructional needs, and medical or health requirements. The students in this center-based program may need a lot of adult support with activities of daily living and with accessing their education. It includes assisting with clerical tasks, student supervision, and redirection. Additionally, the role involves providing feedback to teachers on individual student performance and needs. The position may involve riding the bus and providing student supervision on the bus to and from the work site during morning and afternoon bus runs. Another key responsibility is fostering positive community relations with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Current First Aid and CPR (or obtained within first 60 days of employment).
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change.
  • Possesses computer and technology skills.
  • Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with the School District community.
  • Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Upholds a generally positive attitude.
  • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Occasional jogging/running.
  • Frequent lifting ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of up to one hundred-fifty (150) pounds, with assistance.
  • Frequent sitting, bending, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling squatting, and reaching.
  • Following employment offer/acceptance: Ongoing employment is conditional upon successful clearance of job related medical form (STU11).

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Student Support Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting)
  • Facilitate and support small groups and/or one on one instruction to reinforce skills, concepts and strategies.
  • Elicit responses from every member of the group.
  • Ensure understanding of material by all students.
  • Lead multi-level students to work together effectively.
  • Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
  • Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
  • Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
  • Collaborate with team members regarding activities, planning and resources for special education students.
  • Ride the bus to provide assistance and supervision of students.
  • Prepare materials for various types of interventions.
  • Assist with test administration, scoring, data entry, and report generation.
  • Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
  • Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
  • Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to support instructional programming.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
