About The Position

McKeown Elementary School is seeking caring individuals interested in working as paraprofessionals. Must have an interest working with PreK to grade 6 children in diverse capacities. Monday through Friday, according to school calendar.

Requirements

• Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education.
• Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree.
• Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
• NJDOE criminal history clearance.
• Substitute Credentials Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pupil(s) and teacher in all personal care tasks and needs, including but not limited to, grooming, toileting, diapering, lifting, carrying of articles and materials, feeding, assisting and supervising the child in movement throughout the school, assisting with arrival dismissal and transportation needs, communicate observations to teacher for reporting out to parents/legal guardians, and other school provided services.
• Follows the direction of the teachers to reinforce educational skills of the student(s).
• Encourages and helps the children to gain organization and independence.
• Conforms and compiles to any special needs as are identified in any educational plan for the student(s).
• Remains with the student throughout the school day for all classes, trips and schedules, unless otherwise directed.
• Keeps the primary designated instructor informed of all needs of the student(s).
• Follows any specific directions or tasks as assigned by the Superintendent/Principal/Assistant Principal.
• Assigned as a substitute bus aide.
