About this job: Library Paraprofessionals: Supports individual, team or department through practical application of knowledge, use of proven techniques, and adherence to procedures. Primary focus on execution of assigned tasks in a specific area of responsibility, with a non-technical scope and a high degree of customer service. Supports library staff by performing general library tasks and providing routine assistance. Responsible for collection development and participation in budgeting activities. Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of library related experience preferred
  • Previous budgeting and related reporting experience preferred
  • Ability to coordinate and work effectively with site staff and diverse student population.
  • Effective communication skills, including ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of Library Sciences
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Codes, classifies, catalogues, receives, checks out, and shelves library materials
  • Converts written material to computerized library system
  • Monitors circulation of library materials and delivers and retrieves library materials
  • Performs library material inventory, and reconciles discrepancies
  • Explains basic use of library facilities, resources, equipment, and services and provides library resource location, data search, and service assistance to students and teachers
  • Assists individuals and small student groups locate library resources and materials
  • Monitors students at assigned site and reinforces positive student behaviors, enforcing administration policies and rules governing students
  • Discusses and coordinates instructional efforts with teachers and library staff
  • Coordinates the classification, indexing, shelving and circulation of books, periodicals, audio-visual and multi-media information
