They often assist in specialized programs and help ensure a safe, productive learning environment. Responsibilities

  • Codes, classifies, catalogues, receives, checks out, and shelves library materials
  • Converts written material to computerized library system
  • Monitors circulation of library materials and delivers and retrieves library materials
  • Performs library material inventory, and reconciles discrepancies
  • Explains basic use of library facilities, resources, equipment, and services and provides library resource location, data search, and service assistance to students and teachers
  • Assists individuals and small student groups locate library resources and materials
  • Monitors students at assigned site and reinforces positive student behaviors, enforcing administration policies and rules governing students
  • Discusses and coordinates instructional efforts with teachers and library staff
  • Coordinates the classification, indexing, shelving and circulation of books, periodicals, audio-visual and multi-media information
