About The Position

The Paraprofessional position involves supporting the educational process by assisting teachers and working directly with students. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with an educational aide certificate. The position is designed to aid in the implementation of educational activities and to provide support in various classroom settings as assigned by the building principal.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Educational aide certificate.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to interact positively with parents and staff.
• Must be highly qualified according to ESEA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher by working with small groups or individuals as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Prepare, file, and organize learning materials.
• Assist in setting up and maintaining the classroom learning environment.
• Chart or record specified behavior and information for individuals or groups of students.
• Assist in maintaining order in the classroom and school building.
• Participate in regular feedback and planning sessions with the SBH teacher.
• Maintain control and discipline over students during times when the teacher is outside the classroom.
• Assist in administering assessment tests.
• Assist in grading and correcting papers using guides provided by the teacher.
• Monitor disruptive and/or physically aggressive students in isolation or time-out areas.
• Assist in implementing individualized intervention plans as specified in each student's I.E.P.
• Communicate with parents and other agencies as needed regarding student issues.
• Dispense medications to students with approval from the building principal.
• Perform miscellaneous classroom duties as assigned by the teacher.
