The Paraprofessional position at Fulton County Schools is a part-time role focused on providing instructional support to teachers and students in a classroom or media center setting. The incumbent will assist in preparing educational materials, reinforcing learning objectives, and managing daily routines, while also supporting library operations and technology resources.

  • Assist the teacher in the preparation of educational materials for students.
  • Work individually with students and/or in small groups to help reinforce learning objectives.
  • Assist with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, and grading quizzes as assigned.
  • Participate in lunchroom, recess, hall-monitoring, and bus duties.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining bulletin boards and other learning centers for instruction.
  • Monitor student use of the library and assist students with instructional tasks.
  • Assist students and teachers in locating and using media/technology resources.
  • Assist with inventory of all media center materials and processing of new materials.
  • Generate and maintain reports on overdue and lost books, as well as fines associated with these materials.
  • Staff the circulation desk and check media center materials in and out to students and teachers using Destiny Library Manager Software.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass the GACE para assessment or have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of a grade of C or better; or hold an Associate's Degree or higher from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
  • 0-1 year of experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with students and adults.
  • Excellent organizational skills and flexibility.
  • Technology proficiency (computers, AV, office equipment, etc.).
  • Knowledge of library organization and filing procedures.
  • Classroom experience and/or proven ability to work with children preferred.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written language of instruction for the Dual Immersion program.
