About The Position

The Instructional Paraprofessional at Marietta City Schools supports classroom teachers and the principal by assisting in various educational tasks and ensuring a conducive learning environment for students. This role involves working closely with students, preparing instructional materials, and maintaining classroom management under the guidance of certified staff.

Requirements

  • Completion of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of postsecondary coursework through an accredited school; or
  • Completion of an Associate's Degree through an accredited school; or
  • Have a passing score on the Parapro Assessment acceptable in Georgia.
  • Ability to work successfully with school personnel, parents, students and community members.
  • Ability to be patient and flexible.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  • Assists teacher with programs of study: small group, large group, individualized and remedial/acceleration.
  • Assists in preparing instructional materials.
  • Performs clerical duties (word processing, copying, filing, etc.).
  • Procures, sets-up, operates, and returns instructional equipment.
  • Helps prepare and supervise work areas.
  • Assists in the supervision of students on the playground, in the cafeteria, in the hallways, in the bathrooms and other pertinent areas.
  • Assists in the supervision of students on field trips and other off-campus sites as needed.
  • Acts as a substitute teacher in the absence of teacher or substitute teacher.
  • Assists in cleaning and setting up of classroom.
  • Assists with classroom management and data collection.
  • Serves on school committees and assists with school functions.
  • Assists in the supervision of ISS classrooms.
  • Collects money and keeps accurate records as needed for various school functions.
  • Assists with instructional technology as needed.
  • Assists in preparation and collection of testing materials and serves as test proctor.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency procedures and drills.
  • Assists in preparing for parent conferences.
  • Assists students with special needs, including basic needs like feeding and toileting.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students and the program.
