About The Position

Responsible for providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students, and provides clerical support to teachers and staff.

Requirements

  • Sixty (60) college hours completed, required.
  • Must obtain and maintain Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
  • Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues, draw conclusions, and create action plans.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include concepts of grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles; age appropriate activities; and methods of instruction and training.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including operating standard office equipment, including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
  • Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt and administer classroom activities, assignments, make-up work, and/or instructional materials under the direction of the supervising teacher, supporting instruction and reinforcing classroom objectives.
  • Assist students individually and in small groups with lesson assignments by practicing and reinforcing learning concepts to help students reach academic goals and grade-level standards.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, conferences, and trainings to receive and convey information related to job functions.
  • Communicate with teachers regarding student progress by participating in needs assessments and assisting with progress evaluation.
  • Implement instructional interventions under the supervision of the assigned teacher by presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Maintain manual and electronic files and records in compliance with mandated requirements and documentation standards.
  • Monitor individual students and student groups in a variety of settings to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Perform general clerical duties in support of the instructional program.
  • Report health and safety concerns to instructional personnel, administrative staff, and/or appropriate agencies to maintain student safety, a positive learning environment, and compliance with regulations and established guidelines.
  • Respond to emergency situations by addressing immediate safety concerns and/or referring matters to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
