About The Position

Position Title: PARAPROFESSIONAL Includes any 1:1 paraprofessionals that are academically supporting a student Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Restraint Trained Assist with toileting Support students requiring de-escalation, time outs, and/or restraints Support student on behavior intervention plans (BIPS) through data collection and reinforcement under the supervision of classroom teacher and/or BCBA Support Discrete Trial Training (DTT) under the supervision of classroom teacher and/or BCBA (includes Special Education, Regular Education, and Title I) Qualifications: Paraprofessionals shall meet the requirements of a “Highly Qualified” paraprofessional as described in Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The minimum qualifications include: A high school diploma or equivalent, AND An Associate’s (or higher) degree; OR Evidence of completion of 48 credit hours at an Institution of Higher Education; OR Evidence of completion of one of the formal Massachusetts-endorsed assessments: ParaPro or WorkKeys Reports To: Building Principal or Designee This job description outlines the general duties that the instructional paraprofessional will be expected to complete. However, the job duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the job. Duties may also vary depending upon the age of students served as well as the nature and severity of students’ disability. The primary purpose of instructional paraprofessionals is to support both teachers and students in activities directly related to education. Essential functions of instructional paraprofessionals include: Assist in the education and social development of students under the direction and guidance of general or special education teachers. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for students and monitor progress. Provide support for identified students both inside and outside the classroom to enable them to participate in activities. Assist in administration of state/district wide assessments Implement special strategies as required by supervisor Maintain confidentiality of student information Performs all clerical duties as directed by supervisor Manages student behavior under the direction of supervisor Demonstrates personal career development through in-service/other training opportunities as provided by the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District Other Potential Duties Depending on Assignment Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, crisis prevention, etc.) Assisting students with transition to/from transportation All other duties as assigned Terms of Employment Work year:As specified in contract Rate of pay:As specified in contract WHEA Collective Bargaining Unit D

Requirements

Responsibilities
