About The Position

The Paraprofessional, Behavioral Interventionist plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of behavior intervention strategies within a school setting. This position focuses on delivering researched-based interventions to individual students and small groups, monitoring their progress, and collaborating with school staff to ensure effective behavior management and support.

Requirements

  • A minimum of thirty-sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Pass the Paraprofessional test in the State of Missouri or complete the Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program.
  • Sixty college hours is preferred.
  • Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with behavioral challenges.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS).

Responsibilities

  • Supports Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) initiatives.
  • Assists behavior team in developing plans for being successful in the classroom.
  • Provides mentoring and small group social skill/behavior instruction to students.
  • Collects and documents data, related reports, and child records for ongoing behavior intervention service planning and review.
  • Assists school staff in implementing intervention strategies to follow specified behavior management plans.
  • Collaborates with the school team and district team to implement behavior intervention plans.
  • Provides assistance with de-escalating student behaviors and reintegration back into the classroom.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities.
  • Maintains high ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information as expected of a fully licensed teacher.
  • Adheres to good safety practices.
  • Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
