Paraprofessional 1:1 Special Education Brennan Middle School Start date: Immediate The Insights program provides a highly structured environment that uses the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to develop social , behavioral, communication, and academic skills. Students receive individualized and small group instruction and staff supports. Position Purpose: To assist and support a student in the school and classroom to meet academic, social, communication, and behavioral goals and objectives. Paraprofessional - student in Grade 5

Requirements

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, and others.
Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work.
Ability to report work orally or in writing to the supervisor as required.
Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
Highly Qualified - 2 years college credits or equivalent (ParaPro)

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working with students with autism and developmental delays preferred.
Registered Behavior Technician preferred
Safety Care trained preferred

Responsibilities

Works with student individually, in small groups, and whole class.
Assists professional staff in data collection: academic, social, and behavioral
Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing academic, social, communication, adaptive, and behavioral skills according to individual student needs.
Assists with individual, class, and school positive behavioral supports to support a safe, learning environment.
Assist student in non-instructional areas, such as student lunch, arrival/dismissal, playground, corridor, and other related noninstructional areas including self care such as toileting.
Accompany student on field trips and community outings.
Constructs, copies and distribute and use materials as needed.
Assists teachers with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education.
Participates in the IEP process and serves as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed.
Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
